Clutch Release Mechanism

I had to buy two seals and a gasket. Did I really need a gasket ? - Well the original didn't come off in one piece. To be precise, the original didn't come off at all without severe scraping with an old AA membership card.

The piston has the new seal fitted - the old one is shown by its part number. The oil seal (91209) fits inside the left of the right of the piston as seen here. The old one was scraped out - it looked like solidified grease and felt pretty much the same. Knackered wasn't the word !

The little bit of metal in the bottom right is one of the locating dowels for the clutch release housing. The other one remained in place. It was rusted in.

These pages relate to my first bike after a 17 year lay-off. Bought in 2000 with 28,000 miles on the clock. Traded in for a 2000AY version in Sep 2003 with 60,000 miles on the clock. The pages were intended to provide information to a prospective buyer, but are maintained here as information for anyone who may be interested.
