Im 6'4" tall. The Stock screen was plenty tall enough for me, and extends well above my eyeline if I want it too. However, I prefer to ride peering over the screen, rather than through it. The stock screen allows this, but directs the wind straight into your eyes - as soon as you can see over the screen, the wind is straight in your face. So I started hunting.

I purchased a flip-up screen from Bike-Quip - a small UK company which makes stuff specifically for the ST1100 and ST1300. They have a screen which looks similar to the ST1100 screen - with the flip up to deflect wind, rain, bugs etc over your head. Here are some photos comparing the stock screen with the Bike Quip provided screen.

No explanations - except for some photos, I have gaffa taped the original over the top of the newly fitted Bike-Quip screen. The new screen is slightly taller and slightly wider.

A comment about the Bike Quip screen.

Its brilliant. I didn't need the taller version, but this larger version had a bigger flip-up, which was what I was after.

I sometimes ride with the screen full down, which still gives a nice refreshing blast in the face, and clears the rain from the visor.

I can ride, visor up, with the screen just below eye line, and don't get the airflow in my face. The flip-up works well.

There is a position where the screen generates a little wind noise. Its about half way between full down and my normal ride position - so its not in a position that I would normally use, and it is easily tuned out by raising the screen or lowering it a little more.

I wanted to check out the original screen after I had been riding with the Bike-Quip screen. I was amazed at how bad the original screen was, in comparison. The replacement screen went back on straight away, and has stayed on ever since.
